Ingredients

Bread:

4 Top Cut Ciabatta Roll

Toppings:

8 leaves of crisp lettuce (2 per sandwich)
4 170g top sirloin steaks
80-120g of Havarti cheese (4 slices per sandwich)

Carmelized Red Onions:

30ml unsalted butter
1 red onion
30ml brown sugar
45 ml balsamic vinegar
5ml soy sauce
salt and pepper

Smoky Mayo:

40ml mayonnaise
5ml whole grain mustard
10ml Worcestershire sauce
1 garlic clove - minced

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced red onions to the pan and saute for 2-3 minutes.
Mix in brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir and continue cooking until the onions are golden-brown and soft, around 15-17 minutes
Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Coat pan with cooking spray. Sprinkle both sides of steaks evenly with salt and pepper. Add steaks to pan; cook 4 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness. Let steaks stand 5 minutes
Cut steaks diagonally across grain into thin slices
Mix smoky mayo ingredients together in a small bowl
Slice the ciabatta in half and toast open face for 1-2 minutes
Spread the smoky mayo onto the toasted rolls, layer on lettuce, tomatoes, sliced steak, cheese & onions
Serve with chips aka french fries to complete the western meal! Enjoy!
